About The Next Summit

We Support Outdoor Safety, Conservation, Education, and Public Access in the Colorado Rocky Mountains.

Alex Derr started The Next Summit as a blog in 2019 to help educate the public about mountain safety and conservation practices. Since then, we have grown into a full social enterprise conducting broader training, research, and advocacy efforts, while continuing to produce new bog content, free for all to access.

We also focus on taking a collaborative approach with partners including Colorado Mountain Club, Fix CRUS Coalition, Leave No Trace, Care for Colorado Coalition, and the CO Outdoor Business Alliance.

We fund our work using our website ad revenue and thanks to the support from our 75+ donors. This allows us to run our site, fund awareness ads, offer free training, and advocate for the peaks. Learn more about our work below and consider supporting us here
